Montana State University (PI: Cara Palmer); Dr. Palmer’s research focuses on the role of sleep in the social and emotional development of children, adolescents, and emerging adults. Ongoing studies examine how healthy and unhealthy sleep patterns develop, and how these patterns relate to mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety), stress, emotion regulation and reactivity, and social interactions; Students are funded through graduate teaching or research assistantships (stipend, tuition waiver, health insurance stipend) and receive an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Psychological Science. University of Arkansas (Anastasia Makhanova; Spark Lab; We study social perception with a focus on endocrinological processes, motivation, and evolutionary psychology. Much of our research focuses on interpersonal perceptions related to pathogen avoidance motives as well as immune system activity. However, we also look at romantic relationship formation and maintenance, affiliation, competition, etc. We have our own wet lab and currently focus on cytokines, testosterone, and hormones that fluctuate across women's menstrual cycle.
