Position Summary
Trans-ilience: The Transgender Stress and Resilience Research Team is seeking a Research Assistant to assist with studies focused on minority stress, coping, and mental health for transgender and gender diverse individuals. The Research Assistant will be supervised by Dr. Jae Puckett, the director of Trans-ilience. The Research Assistant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day research activities in the lab, which include assisting with IRB submissions, advertising research studies, recruitment for research studies, monitoring study procedures, assisting with data collection, data cleaning and basic analyses, producing graphs and tables of findings, and translating study findings into educational tools (e.g., infographics or reports for the general public). These tasks will require the Research Assistant to coordinate with other employees in the lab and oversee their engagement in similar tasks as well. The Research Assistant will also assist with literature searches and have the opportunity to contribute to manuscripts from the lab’s research studies.
We are a community engaged research team and the position will include outreach efforts and taking on initiatives to communicate research findings to broader, non-academic audiences. Our team includes undergraduates, graduate students, and a community advisory board that helps to inform our work. The Research Assistant will be responsible for designing outreach programs to disseminate study findings, as well as managing our social media accounts to publicly disseminate research findings. The Research Assistant will also assist with lab publicity, oversee the lab website, coordinate the lab newsletter, and design promotional tools for the team.
The Research Assistant will also be responsible for coordinating the team and co-supervising other assistants. This will include scheduling team meetings, discussing responsibilities of each team member with Dr. Puckett and providing assistance to team members to meet respective goals and objectives, and leading team meetings. The Research Assistant will also assist with the Community Advisory Board affiliated with the research team, including scheduling meetings, coordinating projects, and administrative tasks.

The Biobehavioral Research Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry is currently conducting a longitudinal study to understand risk factors for the development of anxiety and other challenges in youth. This longitudinal project involves assessments from infancy through early adolescence on neural, physiological, and behavioral predictors and markers of anxiety in typically developing children. Current study activities focus on follow-up assessments of participants at ages 11 and 13 years of age, with some assessments at younger ages.
Responsibilities:
• Consent and schedule participants for research studies through written communication and video conferencing platforms. Provide detailed background information regarding the study to families, communicate all policies and procedures, and respond to all inquiries.

We are seeking a Clinical Research Assistant (RA) to work 50% on research focused on the development and evaluation of integrated treatments for HIV and OUD and 50% on research focused on interviewing key stakeholders (patients, clinicians, and administrative leaders) to develop a better understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on substance use treatment. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator, the RA will be responsible for assisting the study team in all phases of the studies, including clinical recruitment in outpatient treatment settings, qualitative interviewing, and follow-up procedures. Study tasks will include, but are not limited to, obtaining informed consent, interviewing participants to gather information, preparing and maintaining study records, contacting participants to obtain follow-up data, entering and cleaning data, performing statistical analyses, and cleaning and coding transcripts. Successful candidates are strongly preferred to have prior experience working with populations diagnosed with substance use disorders and individuals with a history of criminal justice involvement. It is also strongly preferred to have experience with qualitative research. The RA will adhere to ethical procedures for subject recruitment and crisis protocols. Finally, s/he may be responsible for assisting with periodic literature reviews, and for assisting with preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.

We are actively recruiting a Clinical Research Assistant (RA) for research focused on the use of digital health to prevent peer violence and depressive symptoms among at-risk adolescents. Primary responsibilities will be related to an R01 investigation, “iDOVE2: A Technology-Augmented Intervention to Prevent Peer Violence & Depressive Symptoms Among At-Risk Emergency Department Adolescents.” In iDOVE2, we will conduct an 800-person factorial clinical trial of a two-part intervention (a brief in-person session, and an 8-week automated text message program) for at-risk adolescents seen in the Emergency Department.
